Hurt in a Car Accident? Walk In — We’ll See You Today

Hurt in a car accident and not sure what to do next? You can walk into our Clermont clinic today, no appointment needed, and we’ll check you over, explain what we find in plain words, and handle the PIP paperwork for you. In English or Spanish. This piece walks you through delayed-onset injuries, what your first visit looks like, what we treat, and what we send elsewhere. Dr. JP Silvera and the Taylor-Made team see auto-injury patients across Lake County every week, and the questions below are the ones we hear most.

This article is general information, not medical or legal advice. For advice about your specific injury, come in and let us examine you.

You can feel fine and still be injured after a crash

Feeling okay right after the wreck doesn’t mean you walked away clean. Here’s what I’m hearing from a lot of people who search this: the crash happened, you felt shaky but fine, and now a day or two later something’s not right. That’s whiplash, and it’s one of the most common auto injuries there is.

Right after a collision, your body floods with adrenaline. That masks pain. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, whiplash symptoms often don’t appear until 24 hours or more after the injury. So you go home, sleep on it, and wake up with a stiff neck, a headache that won’t quit, or a foggy feeling that’s hard to describe.

Feeling fine is not the same as being uninjured. The soft tissue in your neck can be strained even when nothing shows up in the mirror.

In Florida, there’s a real timeline you should know. To use your Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage, you generally need to be seen by a provider within 14 days of the crash. The Florida Department of Financial Services explains how PIP works. Even setting insurance aside, getting checked early documents your injury and protects any claim against the at-fault driver.

If any of that sounds familiar, here’s what we suggest you do first.

What to expect when you walk in

Walk in during business hours and we’ll see you the same day, no appointment required. Bring your ID, your insurance card, and the accident report or claim number if you have one. If you don’t have those yet, come anyway. We’ll sort it out.

The first visit runs about 45 minutes to an hour. That’s on purpose. We’re not going to move you through like a number.

We start with what happened and how you’re feeling. Then we do a physical exam: we check your range of motion, press along the neck and back to find what’s tender, and test for anything that points to a problem needing imaging or a referral. We ask a lot of questions, and we tell you why we’re asking them. You should understand your own body better when you leave than when you walked in.

On the billing side, we handle PIP and the paperwork so you don’t have to chase it. That’s about taking the administrative weight off you, plain and simple.

About half our patients speak Spanish, and so do members of our staff. You won’t need to bring a translator. Spanish-first? Message us on WhatsApp before you come in.

Come in, tell us what’s going on, and we’ll walk you through it.

The injuries we see most often — and how we approach them

Most of what we see after a crash falls into a handful of patterns. Here’s what they are and how we think about each one.

Whiplash. The neck gets thrown forward and back fast, straining the muscles, ligaments, and joints. Because the tissue is soft and adrenaline hides the pain, it often shows up late. From my experience, this tends to respond well to a combination of gentle spinal work, targeted exercises, and time. We won’t promise a fix. We’ll tell you what we’re seeing and how it’s tracking.

Neck and back pain. Sometimes it’s a muscle strain that improves with care. Sometimes the pain pattern suggests something that needs imaging first. That’s a line we watch closely. If your exam points to a disc issue or possible fracture, we refer you out for an X-ray or MRI before we do anything hands-on.

Headaches after a crash. These split into two rough camps: tension-type headaches with a musculoskeletal root, which we can often help, and post-concussive headaches, which are a different animal. We look at how the headache behaves to tell them apart.

Mild TBI and concussion. We can screen for the signs. Managing a concussion beyond that screening sits outside chiropractic scope, and we’ll say so and point you to the right provider. The CDC has clear guidance on concussion warning signs worth knowing.

No false certainty here. We reason through what’s in front of us and we’re honest about the range of what it might be.

What we can help with — and what is outside our scope

Naming what we don’t treat tells you more about us than any five-star review could. So here it is straight.

What we treat: soft-tissue and musculoskeletal injuries from the crash. Whiplash. Spinal strain and sprain. Tension headaches with a musculoskeletal origin. The everyday neck and back pain that follows a collision.

What we refer out: fractures and structural instability confirmed by imaging. Neurological symptoms that need a specialist. Concussion management past the initial screen. Anything that looks like it belongs in an emergency room.

Here’s how we decide. If your exam shows red flags for something beyond soft tissue, we don’t guess and we don’t push adjustments to keep you on the schedule. We get you to imaging or the right specialist.

Referring you out doesn’t mean we drop you. We coordinate with the receiving provider and, if an attorney is handling your case, we keep them in the loop and get records over promptly. Clean documentation protects you and it protects your claim.

That’s standard clinical thinking, not a hedge. Knowing where our hands help and where they don’t is the whole job.

Are there any other concerns you have? Bring them to your first visit.

Serving Clermont, Minneola, Groveland, and the surrounding area

We’re based in Clermont and we see patients from across Lake County and west Orange County: Minneola, Groveland, Clermont, and the communities around them. If you were just in an accident, the last thing you need is a long drive to a clinic across the county.

Proximity matters when you’re in pain. So does getting seen fast. A two-week wait for an appointment doesn’t help someone who got rear-ended yesterday, which is why walk-ins are part of how we run.

Our bilingual care isn’t a translated add-on. Roughly half our patients and staff share the same language, so a Spanish-first patient gets care in Spanish from a real person, not a script read off a card.

For the case managers and intake coordinators reading this: intake is quick, communication is proactive, and we turn records around without you having to chase us. That’s the whole approach.

Questions we hear often — answered plainly

Will this cost me anything out of pocket?

In most auto-injury cases, PIP covers your visits and we handle the billing directly. You focus on getting checked and getting better. We’ll walk you through the coverage details at your first visit so there are no surprises. If PIP doesn’t apply to your situation, we’ll tell you your options honestly before we do anything.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Walk in during business hours and we’ll see you the same day. Bring your ID, insurance card, and any accident paperwork you have. If you’d rather call ahead or message us on WhatsApp first, that works too, and it can shorten your wait.

How many visits will I need?

Honestly, it depends on what we find, and we won’t pretend to know before we’ve examined you. Some soft-tissue injuries settle in a few weeks. Others take longer. After your first exam we’ll give you a plain-language sense of what to expect and check in as you go.

I feel okay — do I really need this?

Whiplash and other soft-tissue injuries often show up 24 to 72 hours after the crash, once the adrenaline fades. Getting checked early tells you where you stand and documents the injury while it’s fresh. If we find nothing, that’s good news you’ll leave with.

Do you treat Spanish-speaking patients?

Yes, natively. About half our patients speak Spanish, and so do members of our team. You can be seen in person in Spanish without a translator, and you can reach us on WhatsApp before your visit. Estamos aquí para ayudarle.

What if my injury is more serious than chiropractic can handle?

Then we’ll tell you, and we’ll point you to the right person. If your exam shows a possible fracture, neurological issue, or a concussion that needs specialist care, we refer you out and coordinate the handoff. We’d rather send you to the right provider than keep you where you don’t belong.

Come in when you’re ready

You’ve got the pain, the bills, the paperwork, and a hundred questions. You don’t have to carry all of that into the room by yourself.

Come in, tell us what’s going on, and we’ll walk you through it one step at a time. In English or Spanish, whichever you’re most comfortable with. Walk in during business hours, call us, or message us on WhatsApp to start the conversation.

We’re here to help.
